| We have a wonderful selection of spiritual books and relaxation/meditation tapes. We also carry zafus and zabutons (meditation cushions and mats), 100% cotton yoga T-shirts and stretching mats (sticky mats) for hatha yoga.
Due to the desire to maintain a medititative environment for the yoga practice,
the bookstore is not open during classes. |

Editorial Review for The Yoga Institute & Bookshop |
| Enlightening Houstonians through yoga and meditation classes since 1974.
In Short The serenely simple space of the Yoga Institute and Bookshop offers an uncluttered and comprehensive selection of books and tapes on yoga, meditation and all things spiritual. Yoga mats and some paraphernalia are also available, but only what's absolutely necessary. The Institute offers a variety of classes taught in the anusara yoga style, which is described as "flowing with grace and following your heart." |

Great instructors by Kim C. at InsiderPages
I was a yoga novice when I started attending last year. The instructors are excellent--make sure you do the poses correctly and without injury. Convenient location and ample parking.

peaceful setting
The teachers here are hitt and miss, and the class schedule is not very good. It is hard to pay at the right time. Yoga teachers seem knowledgable, though some talk too much.
I would go to this studio if it offered more classes.

Great toning place!
This is a great yoga place, I have been going here for months and have been seeing great results both mentally and physically! They specialize in helping you in what you need and I couldn't ask for better! The studio itself is great with all the mats and more yoga equipment than you could imagine. Parking is good and the decor is simple but clean and nice looking. I recommend this place for anyone who wants great results!

Need More Variety for Class Times
The Yoga Institute is a great place to practice Anusara yoga, however they are very limited in tehir class times. They offer no Friday, Saturday afternoon, or any Sunday classes. They only offer an advanced class twice a week. The yoga instructors are a hit and miss. The owner is the best teacher but the others talk to much and do not necessarily give the greatest classes. The prices have considerably increased since the renovation and there has not been any class schedule expansion. Despite all this it is a very warm and friendly environment to grow your practice.

Highly recommended!
Being a yoga beginner I have found the instructors here to be very encouraging and patient, they are kind and loving and obviously enthusiastic about their yoga practice. I wish the Yoga Institute had more variety in the times the classes are offered. I understand they are going through a complete renovation and enlargement of the space so maybe more classes will be offered in the future.
