Ratings & Reviews of A Woman's Work
  1. Great store!
This store is really wonderful for the attachment parenting set. It is great to see a store that sells baby slings and such a large amount of breastfeeding supplies in a place like Houston--not a place you typically think of as the attachment parenting capital of the USA. They are a bit pricey (what do you expect from Rice Village) but other than this small fact it is wonderful--I highly recommend a trip there if you are pregnant or have a baby! 2. Wonderful store brings peace and sanity to a new mommy!
When my son was 6 days old, my mother and I went into A Woman's Work for the first time. Sitting in the cozy, comfy nursing area with my newborn, I remember it being the first time I deeply breathed since before his birth! He is now 3 months old and we go back at least once every week! While I can run to Target by my home, I happily drive the 20 minutes from Pearland to make my purchase. While I might pay a dollar or two more, I also get knowledge about my product and if it truly is the best choice for myself and my son. (Well worth the extra buck!) The women who work there are friendly, patient and knowledgeable. After only a couple of visits, they knew my son and I by name. In a world of discount stores where personal service is non-existent, why would you want anything less at this crazy time?!? The lactation consultant at A Woman's Work has given me the gift of breastfeeding for which I will forever be in her debt. I have had problems from a low-milk supply (which I didn't even know I had) to cracked/sore nipples. She gives you hope and peace to such an overwhelmingly new experience. Her 30+ years of experience and personal dedication is invaluable. I tell everyone I know (and strangers I don't know) about this place. It has made all the difference to me and I can honestly say...because of A Woman's Work, I am a better mommy! (dh77, 11/21/2007)

  3. Completely Ignored at this Exclusively Overpriced Store
I went in last week for my first shopping trip for maternity clothes. I happened to walk in at the same time a familiar patron entered, so all the attention and greeting went to her. That is fine, but there were 4 employees in the store and not one even greeted me or even made eye contact. Had I been some vagrant off the street, I could understand this treatment. I was ready to spend a good amount of money for my needs. I even walked around the store, front to back, waiting for some type of acknowledgement. I will never go in there again and I will certainly discourage all of my present and future expectant friends to avoid wasting their time and money on such poor service. (imexpecting, 10/17/2007)

  4. Excellent respurce by Katherine B. at InsiderPages
An excellent, but expensive store for the pregnant, breastfeeding or new mommy. They have many different types of products there but specialize in breastfeeding items and supports. You can even get lactation consultation services there! The ladies there are very friendly and knowledgeable, I just found the prices were a little expensive. PROS: They have everything for pregnant or breastfeeding mommies CONS: Pricey! (Citysearch User, 11/25/2005)

  5. Great Place for Breastfeeding Moms by Abigail G. at InsiderPages
This is a rather small store, but they have a wonderful stock of fashions & accessories for pregnant and breastfeeding women. They also carry a lot of supplies that may be recommended if you are having any trouble breastfeeding. They rent and seel Medela breast pumps, offer breastfeeding education and have lactations consultants on staff. Great place if you are, or plan to be, a nursing mom. (Citysearch User, 11/10/2005)
